The Royal Thai Police (RTP) has introduced Digital Citizenship 101, a new digital literacy program developed in cooperation with Meta, government agencies, and education-sector partners to equip Thai teachers and students with knowledge of online safety. The program will begin with a pilot in 437 schools under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration before expanding nationwide.
Launched ahead of Safer Internet Day 2026, the project operates under a multi-agency framework to prevent technology-related crime. The campaign follows a train-the-trainer approach, equipping teachers and lecturers with practical skills so they can guide students and families in navigating online risks more safely.
The online course can be completed in about two hours and covers responsible online behavior, safe social media use, personal data protection, cybersecurity awareness, scam prevention, and appropriate use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in daily life and education.
Partners in the project include the RTP, the CIB, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the ETDA, the PRD, the BMA, Chulalongkorn University, NIDA, and Meta, along with media and civil-society organizations supporting outreach.
The course is scheduled for completion by mid-March 2026 and will be offered free of charge on the Chula MOOC platform. After evaluation of the pilot phase, it will be rolled out nationwide, with access later extended to parents and the public, supporting wider digital awareness and safer online practices across Thai society.
