Royal Thai Navy Affirms Respect for Property Rights of Cambodian Citizens and Strict Adherence to International Law

Rear Admiral Paraj Ratanajaipan, Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Navy, stated that, in reference to information and reports circulated on social media that may have led to the misunderstanding that Royal Thai Navy personnel unlawfully appropriated valuable property belonging to Cambodian soldiers or civilians, the Office of the Royal Thai Navy Spokesperson would like to clarify to the Cambodian public that such information is not true.

The Royal Thai Navy respects the people of all nations and conducts its missions strictly in accordance with international law and international humanitarian law. It neither supports nor tolerates any acts that violate the right to life or property of civilians of any nationality.

In cases where Thai authorities discover personal property belonging to Cambodian soldiers, Cambodian civilians, or nationals of other countries within operational areas, such property will be carefully collected, verified, and securely safeguarded in accordance with established procedures, pending coordination for its lawful return to the rightful owners. Property owners may contact the relevant authorities to reclaim their belongings by presenting clear documentation or credible evidence to verify ownership.

The Royal Thai Navy reaffirms that its operations are conducted with the objective of maintaining public order, safety, and humanity for all parties involved, while upholding transparency to prevent any misunderstandings.
